Welcome to the Goodstone Group
The Goodstone Group was established in Ulverstone in 1988 with the development of the Lighthouse Hotel as a partnership between Ulverstone identities Peter Johnstone and Kerry Good. In December 1998 the growth of the group began with the addition of more venues, and is still growing today. In 2003 the formation of the marketing group Big Bargain Bottleshops extended into the external bottleshop market and at full development boasted 53 members state-wide. The ownership of Big Bargain was sold to Metcash in 2016.
The Group is proud to own and operate properties from Spreyton to Smithton, currently employing over 450 Tasmanians in 11 hotel properties as well as 5 stand alone bottleshops. Our properties offer accommodation ranging from 4 star suites, motel or hotel rooms, to backpacker properties plus self-contained apartments. We boast 9 food offerings, from bar meals and family bistros to quality restaurant style dining. Our hotels offer entertainment in varying degrees, from live music or DJ’s, TAB facilities, Gaming Rooms, TasKeno, 8 Ball facilities and two of the only indoor kids playrooms on the North West coast. Our lighthouse property has a gym & outdoor jacuzzi for guests while the family friendly Tall Timbers property in Smithton offers a tennis court, indoor pool on expansive grounds with its own duck pond. Whether you are traveling with family, friends or solo, for a holiday, a celebration or business, we have a location to suit your needs
The Company’s Mission Statement is “to consistently meet our customers needs with products and services of the highest possible standard”. We pride ourselves on constantly striving to present quality venues; consistent, quality food and beverages; and, above expectation customer service.
We will continue to invest in the quality of our offering and the excellence of our staff.
The owners and management see potential for further business growth and actively seek opportunities to further invest in the Tasmanian hospitality industry.
